Hello escapees π Welcome to the June edition of the Escape Industry Newsletter! Just like that, the year is almost halfway over. Here in Escape Industry News HQ summer is almost upon us, but the warmer weather won't stop us playing all the fantastic new rooms we possibly can this month. In this month's issue we're have a few exciting things to share. From the date and location of the ER Championship being announced, to a community effort to support escape rooms in Rio Grande do Sul. Last but by no means least, SEO ORB have put out a call for all escape room owners to help contribute to the state of the industry report. This issue also comes with a bumper section of podcast episodes - not one but two new escape room podcasts have appeared on the scene... And, whilst you're there, you might spot a voice as a guest in another. Here's how you can support escape games in Rio Grande do Sul As you may know, the Rio Grande do Sul region of Brazil was hit by terrible floods last month. A group of escape room fans from the region, including Escapers BR and Mundo Escape have compiled a list of companies in the region offering online escape games. Here's more information about how you can support some of the escape room businesses in the area.

ER Champ has announced the date and location for this year's finale The finale will be held on November 25th at the FunArena in Prague. This year the top 10 teams that make it through the qualifications on June 29th will be invited to take part in the finale. This event will be livestreamed online.

State Of The Escape Room Industry Survey 2024 SEO ORB publish an almost-annual State of the Escape Room Industry report, and you can read the previous years' results here. β’ Escape the Review recently listed their 20,000th game listing! Super exciting stuff. β’ There are not one but two new puzzley podcasts on the block: The Mystery Soup, and Escapuzzled Podcast. Well, technically one of them launched earlier this year, but we just spotted it now. β’ Room Escape Artist have announced some changes to the Golden Lock Awards, which you can read about here. β’ ER Champ recently published a short article on the results of the 2024 Stress Test. You can read about it here. β’ Case Closed have started a Game Design blog with behind the scenes insights into their escape rooms. β’ Aardman partners with Locked In A Room to expand Wallace & Gromit escape room experience. β’ EMS crews in New York State have been using an escape room-like experience to train new recruits. β’ Room Escape Artist recently posted a helpful guide to using the right locks in moist environments. They've also recently been posting more content about horror escape rooms, which you can see here. β’ One Way Out in Oakham, UK is hosting an owners day on the 22nd July. Note: This article is not available ibn English. β’ Thinky Third Thursday, a round-up of puzzle videogames has released it's May edition. β’ Mobile Escapes in Canada have just concluded a Kickstarter for a tabletop escape room experience based on Shackleton. If you missed it, late pledges are open. β’ The Escape Roomer recently published a puzzle game round up from WASD and the Cerebral Puzzle Showcase. β’ The Canterbury Tales Immersive Experience is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter. β’ Since there's a fairly large overlap between escape room enthusiasts and Taskmaster fans, we thought you might like to know that the ballot for the Taskmaster Live Experience is open.

June's puzzle is a little different. I always keep an eye out throughout the month for interesting (and short) puzzles that might work here - whether originals, or an Escape Industry Twist on an existing format. This month I stumbled across this hidden text-based gem called Enter Password. The whole puzzle is just a few lines long and yet it took me an embarrassingly long time to solve π
