Escape Industry News
Greetings Escapists! 👋

It's that time of the year again! Halloween rooms across the world are packing up, making way for Christmas ones in their place. It must mean only one thing:

The holidays are almost upon us!

I find that when the end of the year looms, it's the perfect time to start planning all the escape room trips I want to take the following year. Which is why a particularly topical meme from Perplexing Doodles really tickled me this month. It's a very familiar conversation I've been having when 2024's trips with non-puzzley friends...
Can you relate? 😅

But anyway, back to the news... In this month's Escape Industry Newsletter we're seeing a whole wealth of new festive rooms popping up around the world. It's also awards season - with the TERPECA voting round opening soon, the EGA2023 ceremony concluding in China. As we roll into December, we'll be sure to see a few more whose dates haven't yet been announced too. I also have a few puzzle advent calendars to share, so be sure to check those out and bookmark them too.

That's all for this month - wherever you are, have an excellent November, and we'll see you in December.

EGA2023 Shenzhen Awards Ceremony (#EGA2023) Took Place this Month

The EGA (Experiential Games Awards) has hosted the ceremony for the National Excellent Reality Game Award in China this month. This includes both regional and national awards, including "Most Innovative", "Best Puzzle Solving Experience", "Best Horror Experience" and so on. It looks like a spectacular awards ceremony, and you can read more (though a pre-warning that this page is not available in English) below.

It's Nearly Advent Calendar Season 🎄✨

Wait, why is this news? Well this month I've spotted two online puzzle-y advent calendar events, and they both deserve a shout out.

The first is video-game focused, called The Confounding Calendar. Each day a short, single-level puzzle game from a different submitter will be made available.

The second is from everyone's favourite escape room meme page, Perplexing Doodles. An advent calendar of puzzles from different creators each day. The cool part is - one of the puzzles has been created by yours truly 💁‍♀️

Are there any online puzzle events for December we've missed? Let us know and we'll include them in December's issue of Escape Industry News.
